Mothers See! Mothers Do! Breastfeeding Cafe 2011

As the new chairwoman for the 2011 Breastfeeding Cafe, I am excited to share that Breastfeeding Cafe 2011 is in the works.  This year’s theme “Mothers See!  Mothers Do! In Public, In Pictures, and Online too. ” comes from the World Breastfeeding Week Theme: “Talk to me! Breastfeeding, a 3D experience.”  Exploring the idea that communication is the third dimension of breastfeeding information.  We have the world at our fingertips with the ability to communicate cross-culturally, cross-continentally, cross-generationally, over socio-economic barriers, and over gender barriers as well.  How are we using this ability to communicate with the world, so easily, to further information about breastfeeding?

This year’s main event will be a Baby Wearing FLASH MOB.  Please contact for more information.  Our first practice will be May 27th at 5:30pm in Murray.  The only details about the Flash Mob that can be shared, are that the Flash Mob will take place during World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-6).  Come to practices and invite friends!!!

We are also excited to offer “Cafe After Hours” each Wednesday of the Cafe.  This will be an evening for mothers to come together to learn information or a craft.  The  entrance fee for “Cafe After Hours” will be a package of new underwear, and any baby items you’d like to donate, which will go to a local charity providing for mothers and babies.

And a line-up of wonderful classes, circles and discussion groups will of course be part of this year’s Cafe.  Join us!  Tell a friend!  Become a Volunteer! Be part of our Flash Mob!  And look for other opportunities to support World Breastfeeding Week this year!

Consider joining in on the silent auction for this Kathy Grossman original, the “face” of this year’s Breastfeeding Cafe (Painting featured in this post).

Cafe Dates: August 1-14, 2011
